Christmas Sleepover
We’d love you to stay with us and soak up the wonderful Hogarths’ festive atmosphere this Christmas.
Find Out MoreAnimal charity Fetcher Dog has raised over £60,000 during their annual event, the Fetcher Dog Charity Ball.
Fetcher Dog is a charity focused on rescuing and rehoming the thousands of dogs that are born on the streets across Europe every year. These dogs face starvation, disease, and inhumane deaths at the hands of local kill shelters.
The cost of operating their UK Rescue Centre, as well as caring for and transporting the dogs they rescue from kill shelters, is over £10,000 a month. While historically they’ve been able to rely on the generosity of the public, this isn’t tenable during the current Cost of Living crisis.
The event was held in partnership with local Investment company, Albert E Sharp, and the Charity are truly grateful to the support received by this company.
Bill Roden, Chief Investment Officer, said “We were delighted when we were asked to sponsor the Fetcher Dog Charity Ball. As a company and individuals, we are strong supporters of the work that the Charity does to rescue and rehome these wonderful animals.”
The aim of the event was to raise over £30,000 for the charity and they were delighted to announce to their guests on the night that they had managed to double that goal.
The overwhelming kindness shown by event attendees and donors has raised vital funds for the operation of the charity, even at a time when everyone is facing financial difficulty.
Aside from guaranteeing the operational costs of the charity for the rest of 2023, this money will help sustain the operation whilst a new Fundraiser is found. Once this individual has been appointed and has settled in, the Charity will be able to expand their efforts and reap the benefits of community and corporate fundraising, trusts and foundation grants, a major donor program and further events.
The 2023 Fetcher Dog Ball was hosted at Hogarth’s Hotel in Solihull and featured a range of live entertainment including Paul Pashley, Rod Woodward and a 7-piece jazz band, Aura. The pinnacle of the evening was the live auction which raised over £20,000. Attendees competed in front of a live Auctioneer, to bid on sporting experiences, memorabilia, music events and holidays.
Fetcher Dog Chairman, Andy Foote said: “Fetcher Dog is so grateful for the support of our generous donors and wonderful adopters when times are truly difficult. The Charity is built on the need to help the poor dogs that suffer on the street or in European kill shelters and while it’s getting harder to run the charity each month, the money we’ve managed to raise in a single evening is remarkable.
“To receive this support during these challenging times demonstrates the true kindness of our community, it really is uplifting. The funds we’ve received should provide us with financial stability for the rest of 2023 and allow us to achieve our Charitable Objectives to save as many dogs as possible and provide them with “forever-homes.”
The next Ball will take place on Saturday 2nd March 2024 at Hogarth’s Hotel and tables will go on sale later in the year. For more information, please email [email protected]
