The Hogarths Evolution

1760

Hogarths Solihull is actually steeped in history; the original guest house dates right back to the 1760s. It’s said that the property was uninhabited for many years, until the mid 19th century.

1870

The building was extended in the 1870s, when it was transformed into a Gamekeeper’s house. This included an aviary, the wrought iron remains of which can still be spotted in the grounds – see if you can find them!

1898

In 1898, the property was bought by Mr Hermann Schurhoff, who converted the house into a hunting lodge. He also created the Moat Farm, a country retreat featuring a bridge leading up to an island.

1900’s

Other features were added over the years; the summer house was brought back to the grounds from Switzerland after the First World War, and placed on the Moat Farm. It remains one of our most popular wedding venues today.

2004

At the turn of the 21st century, the manor house was operating as a small bed and breakfast with 8 bedrooms. When Helena and Andy Hogarth bought the property in 2004, they wasted no time in creating the gorgeous hotel here today!

2014

A few years ago, Hogarths also received a generous donation of artwork from famous sculptor Ray Lonsdale, which sits proudly in the entrance of our hotel. Why not come and see for yourself? 2021

Surviving a pandemic, the hotel is thriving as a 49 bedroom luxury hotel offering staycations, afternoon teas, restaurant dining, business events and hosting many special occasions including exclusive weddings.
